Thursday 9 December 2010 10:30 CET | News

Thales, a France-based provider of information systems and communication security services, has inked an agreement with UK-based financial services provider Metro Bank for the implementation of Thales’s P3 application.

Designed to support Verisoft’s InstantEMV application and the MagTek ExpressCardEMV technology, the newly-implemented Thales P3 functionality will enable Metro Bank to issue new or replacement EMV smart cards to customers in-store, on the spot.

The P3 application supports a range of contact and contactless chip applications from various global card associations and a range of smart card platforms including MULTOS, GlobalPlatform as well as proprietary systems. P3 uses Thales P3CM, a hardware cryptographic module which is designed for EMV data preparation.

In recent news, Metro Bank has launched Pay Anyone, a feature of its online bill payment service that is set to enable users to send personal payments to anyone with a US bank account, by using the recipient’s e-mail or mobile phone number.
