The US Bank Global EMV Card contains magnetic stripe technology as well as EMV Chip technology. In an EMV card, an embedded microprocessor (chip) in the card allows for both chip-and-signature and chip-and-PIN authentication options. The PIN option provides free use in train stations, parking lots and other places where agents are not available to process transactions. Where no PIN is required, cardholders can sign for their purchases. The Global EMV card is available on both Visa and MasterCard platforms.
US Bank is a corporate travel card issuer. In July 2011, the bank began issuing commercial cards with chip-and-PIN capability for corporate clients in Europe and also introduced EMV technology to the US consumer market with its FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa card.
In recent news, The Bancorp Bank Payment Solutions Group, a division of The Bancorp Bank, has started to issue prepaid cards in collaboration with US prepaid debit cards provider NetSpend.
