UK-based technology provider ARM, Dutch digital security company Gemalto and Germany-based electronic payment services provider Giesecke & Devrient have teamed up to introduce a new security standard for smartphones that can upgrade e-commerce transactions.

According to Trustonic, a joint venture between the companies formed in April 2012, the security standard could be built into every level of a device, from the chip through the operating system to applications.

In recent news, Gemalto has received certifications from American Express, MasterCard and Visa for its UpTeq NFC high-end SIM.
