UK card and identity protection services provider CPP has revealed that credit card, insurance and loan services provider Barclaycard has decided to stop using the formers call to confirm services, as the Financial Services Authority (FSA) continues an investigation into this channel, according to the online media outlet telegraph.co.uk.

Via the call to confirm service, customers are offered CPPs services when they call to confirm the receipt of a new credit card. The service also serves as a sales tool for insurance products.

Since the end of March 2011, CPP has been investigated by the Financial Services Authority on its card protection and identity theft protection products in the UK, including failings during sales calls with customers. As a result, CPP has decided to suspend all new sales of its identity theft products. However, Barclaycard will continue to sell CPP products, including ID theft protection via its own channels.
