BehavioSec introduces an alternative to passwords

Monday 11 March 2013 08:28 CET | News

BehavioSec, a Swedish startup which focuses on behavioral biometrics, has introduced biometric fingerprint as an alternative to passwords.

According to CEO Neil Costigan, cited by media outlet Wired Magazine, this includes a combination of ways in which customers interact with their device, such as the force with which you hit a key, the angle you use to swipe a touchscreen, or your typing speed.

Founded in 2009 by computer engineering students Peder Nordström and Olov Renberg at the Luleå Technical University in Sweden, the company’s software is embedded in a banks website or in its applications so it can scan a users fingerprint in the background.

BehavioSec has also revealed plans to open a business office in the UK.
