BMO Capital Markets uses EZcode 2D barcode technology for advertising

Monday 10 August 2009 16:14 CET | News

US financial services provider BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group, has started using the EZcode two-dimensional (2D) barcode technology in select versions of weekly advertisements in The Wall Street Journal.

Readers can thus photograph an ad’s barcode using the camera on their mobile phones or PDAs; subsequently, a dedicated application activates the device’s browser and links directly to a customized page on the BMO Capital Markets website.

In order to use the 2D barcode technology on their mobile phones, readers must download the application which they will use to take a photo of the 2D barcode in the ad. The data in the barcode automatically directs users’ mobile browsers to the desired web page.
