Canada: Oberthur Technologies to open service center for EMV, NFC and ID markets

France-based global technology provider Oberthur Technologies has revealed plans to open a service center in Canada.

The new facility will enable the personalisation of secure devices and documents (including magnetic stripe and EMV cards as well as SIM cards and identification credentials) for customers across Canada.

Oberthur Technologies is currently supplying contactless cards to Montreals transit system and SIM cards to major Canadian telecom operators. The new facility is set to become operation with payment association certifications by Q4 2012 and ready to produce VISA, MasterCard and Interac cards.

Oberthur Technologies was founded in 1984 as a technology provider. The company delivers systems development, smart cards services including payment cards, SIM cards, access cards, NFC and secure identity documents.
