Desko opts for HID Global RFID module

German data gathering and passenger processing company Desko has entered a partnership with US electronic identity services provider HID Global to implement the latter’s Personal Identification Mini Dock (PIMD) identity-checking system, jointly developed with Japanese electronic services provider Panasonic.

cThe PIMD RFID system is designed for border control, policing and other security apps. In addition, it includes a Desko-designed optical character recognition (OCR) unit and a fingerprint scanner that are connected to Panasonic’s Toughbook CF-U1 ultra-mobile PC device.

Additionally, the PIMD RFID reader module is set to feature a document-holding clip and standard PC-SC interface to support biometric reading for passports, ID cards and other RF documents that require support for MIFARE Type A/B protocols. Moreover, the system is set to support both BAC and EAC standards and is ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 compliant.

In recent news , HID Global has acquired US-based intelligent identity assurance company ActivIDentity. The acquisition has been made via ASSA ABLOY, HID Global’s parent company.
