Tuesday 22 December 2009 14:09 CET | News

US federal agencies have undertaken a security probe into an alleged security breach which has reportedly targeted Citigroups Citibank subsidiary and is said to be responsible for millions of dollars in losses, online publication the Wall Street Journal reports quoting sources familiar with the situation.

The hackers which reportedly hit Citibank are said to be part of a Russian gang of cybercriminals. Citigroup sources quoted by the WSJ have denied that such a breach has taken place and have rejected all allegations that an FBI-led security probe is currently in progress.
