Intel, the US-based semiconductor chip maker corporation, has entered an agreement with online authentication services provider SecureKey Technologies to deploy the latter’s online authentication and payment solutions in Intel Identity Protection Technology.

Following the agreement, the company will utilize SecureKey’s online authentication and payment solutions as part of Intel Identity Protection Technology (IPT) beginning on Ultrabook devices with third generation IntelCore technology (code named Ivy Bridge). Furthermore, the agreement with Intel enables SecureKey to expand the number of devices that will be preconfigured to support the companys authentication, identity and payment solutions. Intel will start to deploy these services in H2 2012.

By embedding its technology in mobile computing devices, SecureKey allows consumers and business to access online services and make payments online simply by tapping these cards and on their NFC-enabled devices. Working with device or cloud-based digital wallets, SecureKey can also provide secure proxies to stored credentials, making the online experience even more seamless.

Working with Intel, the SecureKey technology can be used by devices that support the US Governments National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) and Canadas Federated Identity Management, which promote interoperability of security credentials to lower costs, improve convenience for consumers and build a more secure ecosystem for online payments and authentication for consumers and business. SecureKey was recently awarded a contract by the Government of Canada, which will allow Canadians to use their bank authentication credentials to obtain access to online government services.
