Japanese bank deploys Vascos DIGIPASS 275 to secure retail banking services

Swiss-based authentication and e-signature services provider Vasco Data Security has been selected by financial services provider Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) for its DIGIPASS 275.

The bank has decided to implement Vasco’s authentication solution as of October 2013 in order to upgrade its existing security measurements and has revealed plans to completely replace its existing authentication service with DIGIPASS 275.

The number of criminalities, fraud cases and incidents on the internet, such as phishing and man-in-the-middle attacks, is growing very fast in Japan. The last few years, not only financial institutes but also many organizations have been targeted.

Vasco is a supplier of authentication and e-signature solutions as well as services specializing in internet security applications and transactions. Vasco serves a customer base of almost 10,000 companies in more than 100 countries, including approximately 1,700 international financial institutions.
