UK-based online identity verification service miiCard has unveiled its support for the YubiKey hard token authentication device to upgrade its Level of Assurance 3 Plus (LoA3+) identity verification solution.

Support for YubiKey authentication expands the options for asserting or accepting a verified identity through miiCards Bring Your Own Identity (BYOID) service for consumers and Identity as a Service (IDaaS) platform for businesses.

miiCard can prove an individuals identity to the level of an offline photo ID check. miiCard uses multi-factor authentication tools to prove the connection between a user and this verified identity. With YubiKey, miiCard can authenticate users through a unique physical token that only an authorized user possesses and that cannot be duplicated.

miiCard BYOID members can now use YubiKey to secure their accounts and access one-time passcodes. Similarly, businesses using miiCards IDaaS platform can require visitors to use YubiKey as an additional authentication threshold.

miiCards online identity verification service allows consumers to track, monitor and take control of their identity online. Using the authority and security inherent in a users online financial accounts to validate identity, miiCard can now verify almost 300 million users across nine countries and five continents.
