Nordea joins the BankID e-identity infrastructure

Swedish-based financial services group Nordea has joined the BankID electronic identification infrastructure.

Starting with 2012, Nordea is expected to provide BankID-powered e-identity services and stop using the current Nordea electronic identifications .

The BankID infrastructure includes nine Swedish banks, all of them issuing BankID electronic identifications and signing at their online banks. To date, Sweden counts 3.8 million active users of electronic identifications.

BankID is a Swedish electronic identification infrastructure based on the PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) technical standard. BankID has been developed by several banks for use by members of the public, authorities and companies. The first BankID was issued in 2003.
