Oberthur Technologies completes acquisition of Cupola Plastic Cards

Global technology provider Oberthur Technologies has completed the acquisition of Cupola Plastic Cards, a UAE-based smart card manufacturer and personalisation services provider.

The purchase of Cupola Plastic Cards will enable Oberthur to expand its business operations into the Middle East and a number of African markets.

Oberthur Technologies was founded in 1984 as a technology provider. The company delivers systems development, smart cards services including payment cards, SIM cards, access cards, NFC and secure identity documents. The company also offers solutions such as the Smart PIN, where the customer receives his banking card PIN via SMS.
