Santander enables payments authorisations with voice biometrics

Santander has announced that its voice app allows customers to check their bank account and authorise payments with voice biometrics authentication.

Santanders recent update to its iPhone SmartBank app means it is the first UK bank to let customers use speech to carry out actions on their account. Customers who set up the function will also be able to report a stolen card.

The new technology is currently being piloted on the iOS version of the banks official app.
