The Seattle Children’s Hospital has entered an agreement with the Dutch digital security company Gemalto to implement the latter’s Protiva security services to access its servers, networks and VPNs.

As part of the deal, Gemalto’s Protiva suite, including the Strong Authentication Server, two factor authentication devices and technical support services is set to provide the hospital staff with two factor-authentication devices for authorized user access to the hospital network. The staff can use either one-time passwords or public key infrastructure (PKI).

The Seattle Children’s Hospital has selected three types of .NET devices from Gemalto, which are managed via Protiva Strong Authentication Server, namely the .NET USB key, the .NET Dual token and the Easy OTP token.

In recent news, Gemalto has entered a partnership with Microsoft to integrate its smart card technology with the latter’s U-Prove cryptographic technology.
