SecureKey Technologies, a Canada-based online authentication services provider, has selected Q9 Networks (Q9), a provider of outsourced data centre infrastructure for organizations with mission-critical IT operations, to offer online authentication service for SecureKeys new cloud-based authentication platform.

As part of the agreement, Q9 is providing SecureKey with co-location services and managed bandwidth at two Q9 data centres to enable production and disaster recovery capabilities.

SecureKeys Credential Broker Service (CBS), operated in Canada under the brand SecureKey Concierge, allows Canadians to use their online banking user ID and password to gain access to web-based federal government services. As announced in November 2011, three banks have agreed to participate in the service to date and many federal government services are expected to be accessible using online banking credentials in the near future.

SecureKey develops hardware and software solutions that extend the power of chip-based identity and payment credentials to online and mobile transactions. By embedding its technology in a variety of device platforms, laptops, tablets and mobile phones, SecureKey can enable tap/click to pay and tap/click to authenticate capabilities and provide proxies to stored credentials in device or cloud-based digital wallets.
