TeleSign rolls out PhoneID Live to combat international online fraud

Thursday 11 October 2012 10:39 CET | News

TeleSign, a provider of internet fraud prevention and intelligent authentication, has launched PhoneID Live, which enables online businesses to verify if a phone number is active and reachable.

PhoneID Live provides an extra layer of validation by returning the subscriber and device status associated with a users phone (including the phones roaming status). If the data returned for the phone is deemed inactive, then the other information on the form is also likely to be suspect. By returning these critical data points, merchants can better determine whether to accept, deny or challenge an online order or registration and authenticate these users. In addition, PhoneID Live also delivers the phone type for every single phone number request. This data allows businesses to stop and prevent fraud before it occurs.

Global e-commerce and consumer web businesses struggle to identify fraud because of the lack of reliable fraud signals available. Often fraudsters will enter bogus information into online forms and organizations lack the ability to validate this information.

TeleSign has executed more than 1 billion authentication and verification transactions in more than 200 countries and over 50 languages.
