The UK-based company declared that between 12.11am November 3 and 12.52pm GMT on November 8, 2018, both the personal and the financial details of some of their customers ordering online (within that specific time frame) via the company’s website or updating their information online were compromised.
In a statement, the company, which ships its products worldwide, added that the information stolen includes names, billing addresses, email addresses, passwords, as well as telephone numbers. In addition, payment card information was stolen as well, including card numbers, expiry dates, and CVV security codes.
However, the theft relates to information which was entered into the Vision Direct domain during the incident’s timeframe; thus, existing personal data which had already been stored by the company’s databases is not believed be affected.
Customers making payments via Visa, Mastercard, or Maestro may have been affected. The theft of financial information in the case of PayPal users may have been omitted. Vision Direct has not revealed any estimates on how many customers are involved.
