Voltage Security launches Page-Integrated Encryption service

Thursday 28 April 2011 10:54 CET | News

Global provider of data protection services Voltage Security has launched an encryption service for protecting personal data entered by consumers on web pages.

The service, dubbed Page-Integrated Encryption (PIE), is designed to leverage the patented Voltage Format-Preserving Encryption which allows data to be retained in its format and semantics upon encryption. PIE is aimed at e-commerce and other cloud-based applications that use confidential personal information such as credit card numbers and social security numbers.

PIE complements the prior cryptographic services powered by Voltage, including IBE, Voltage Identity-Based Encryption which is the foundation of Voltage SecureMail, an email encryption service; FPE, Format-Preserving Encryption which allows data protection in applications and databases.

Additionally, the company has introduced Voltage SecureData Web, a new data protection service which uses the PIE encryption protocol, designed to enable e-commerce merchants to protect PAN (primary account number) data exchanged in web-based transactions.
