miiCard to support YubiKey authentication device

Friday 19 April 2013 | 12:41 PM CET

UK-based online identity verification service miiCard has inked a deal with US-based two-factor authentication services provider Yubico to support the latter’s YubiKey hard token authentication device to further upgrade its Level of Assurance 3 Plus (LoA3+) identity verification solution.

Support for YubiKey authentication expands the options for asserting or accepting a verified identity through miiCard's Bring Your Own Identity (BYOID) service for consumers and Identity as a Service (IDaaS) platform for businesses.

miiCard BYOID members can now use YubiKey to secure their accounts and access one-time passcodes. Similarly, businesses using miiCard's IDaaS platform can require visitors to use YubiKey as an additional authentication threshold.

miiCard's online identity verification service allows consumers to track, monitor and take control of their identity online. Using the authority and security inherent in a user's online financial accounts to validate identity, miiCard can now verify almost 300 million users across nine countries and five continents.

Yubico provides open online identity protection. The company's flagship product, the YubiKey, combines USB and NFC authentication hardware with open source software. More than a million users in 100 countries rely on the YubiKey for access to networks, computers and online services.
