US collaborative business commerce and e-invoicing services provider Ariba has entered an agreement with MedAssets to extend the latter’s supply chain management and outsourced procurement functionalities.

The partnership offers healthcare providers and suppliers an electronic commerce platform, including requisition to purchase order (PO) transmission, shipment notification, invoice transmission and reconciliation workflow automation, expense posting, supplier payment and early-pay discount solutions.

Through this partnership, healthcare providers will be able to conduct automated e-commerce with the companies connected to the Ariba Network through the MedAssets eCommerce Exchange.

MedAssets partners with healthcare providers to implement revenue cycle, spend and clinical resource management solutions that help capture revenue, control cost, improve margins and cash flow, increase regulatory compliance and enhance operational efficiency. The company currently manages more than USD 50 billion in supply spend and touches over USD 365 billion in gross patient revenue annually through its revenue cycle solutions.

Ariba operates the Ariba Network, which provides cloud-based applications, a community of partners through which companies can discover, qualify, connect and collaborate with trading partners as well as other services that are only available to members of the community, such as analytics, financing and ratings.

In recent news, SHI International, a global provider of technology products and services and AGCO, a manufacturer of agricultural equipment, have tapped into Ariba.
