EESPA releases Model Interoperability Agreement

Wednesday 9 January 2013 10:57 CET | News

The European E-Invoicing Solutions Providers Association (EESPA) has agreed its Model Interoperability Agreement (MIA) and released it for use by its members.

Interoperability between service providers helps invoice senders and receivers who employ the services of different service providers, by facilitating the exchange of invoices through a network of interconnected parties. The MIA provides for a standardized bilateral agreement for use by service providers with their chosen service provider partners. It supports a number of legal compliance frameworks such as digital signatures, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and business controls, and creates a harmonized environment based on standards.

The European E-invoicing Service Providers Association (EESPA) was established on 6 November 2011 and its key objectives include promoting interoperability and the creation of an interoperable eco-system, advocating and supporting the wide adoption of e-invoicing, representing the industry, engaging in public policy debate and recommending best practice within appropriate European forums, as well as providing services to its members. As a trade association for the e-Invoicing industry, EESPA acts as a platform for industry cooperation on non-competitive issues.
