Europe: Businesses see barriers in embracing e-invoicing - research

Friday 11 March 2011 | 11:26 AM CET

Large European commercial companies continue to struggle with a number of barriers when it comes to the implementation of e-invoicing systems into their businesses, according to a recent survey.

According to the research, carried out by UK information management firm Iron Mountain and research company YouGov, 40 percent of polled businesses across Europe have stated that they are not planning to embrace e-invoicing, with complexity and lack of standards emerging as the top two problem areas.

Thus, a fifth of French respondents and a third of Spanish polled companies have claimed that the current situation around e-invoicing is complex and confusing.

However, the research has pointed out that 36 percent of respondents from the UK and Spain and 40 percent of German interviewees have claimed that they would introduce e-invoicing if a standard format were available.

The survey was conducted in February 2011 on respondents in the UK, Germany, Spain and France.
