An informal foundation meeting was held in Brussels, Belgium on 5th May 2011 with regards to the proposed European E-Invoicing Service Providers Association (EESPA), theeinvoicingblog.wordpress.com reports.

Over 30 firms providing e-invoicing services from across the EU met to discuss the formation of the new association to be called EESPA, which is expected to be fully functioning as a legal body in the summer of 2011, the blog indicates.

According to the blog, the meeting has brought a clear consensus on the key objectives of EESPA - including being a “pro-active pan-European interest representation body on behalf of its members”. EESPA’s purpose is expected to represent the supply side of the industry and its customer interests in an area of increasing public policy advocacy and the rollout of a number of European-led initiatives to foster adoption.
