Recurly receives PCI-DSS Level 1 certification

Thursday 20 January 2011 10:06 CET | News

US-based subscription billing management service provider Recurly has obtained Level 1 Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification.

As a result, web, mobile, SaaS and publishing companies have the option to outsource their recurring billing management to Recurly without investing in their own infrastructure for payment data security compliance.

PCI-DSS is a payment card security standard that evaluates payment account data security by assessing the company’s network architecture, software design, security policies, procedures and protective practices. The PCI requirements have been developed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which includes American Express, Discover, JCB International, MasterCard and Visa.

To achieve Level 1 requirement, Recurly has selected Trustwave to validate compliance with PCI-DSS for service providers. The Level 1 status applies to providers who store, process or transmit more than 300,000 transactions annually.

Recurly is set to automate recurring billing, error-handling, dunning management, customer upgrades and downgrades and all related communications.
