US Treasury to require e-invoices from commercial vendors

The US Department of Treasury is allegedly planning to require its commercial vendors to submit their bills electronically, media outlet marketwatch.com reports.

According to the source, the US Department of Treasury is also ordering all of its bureaus to implement an electronic invoice processing system by the end of the fiscal year 2012. As a result, in 2013, the US treasury is planning to require commercial vendors to use the system to submit their invoices.

The source has also indicated that taxpayers would save as much as USD 450 million per year if the invoicing system is adopted across the federal government.
