Walmart to become walk-in utilities bill payment location via Fiservs CheckFreePay suite

Friday 14 October 2011 15:14 CET | News

US-based multinational corporation Walmart is set to use the CheckFreePay walk-in bill payment service, provided by US financial services technology company Fiserv, to become an authorized walk-in bill payment centre for multiple California utilities.

Customers can visit a Walmart store to pay a bill from Pacific Gas & Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company. Since Walmart is an authorised payment location, clients can pay bills from these companies without incurring a convenience fee.

Payments can be made using cash or a PIN-based debit card. The transactions are processed using Fiserv’s CheckFreePay bill payment service and are sent electronically to the utility on the same business day.

In October 2011, US credit union America First Credit Union has signed a deal with Fiserv to use the latter’s Mobiliti offering for mobile banking.
