Friday 18 December 2009 00:02 CET | News

Electronic commerce in Africa has reached nearly USD 31 million, with USD 30 million coming from South Africa, Nigerian Compass reports.

“E-commerce involves the use of innovative Information Technology (IT) solutions to improve efficiency in e- governance processes, distance education, revenue collection and financial transactions, which is a novelty in Africa”, according to the same source.

During a conference hosted by the Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet), experts discussed various solutions to developing the e-commence industry on the African continent. They consider e-commerce an innovation that would change the operations of African businesses, if problems related to connectivity and software are to be solved.
