Alibaba to launch B2B platform

Monday 14 September 2009 10:31 CET | News

Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba is set to introduce an international B2B platform in the US by the end of 2009.

The new platform, called Ali Express (wholesale.alibaba.com), is currently in a testing phase. Although the company representatives have declined to give more details, other sources indicate that Alibaba could potentially launch an auction business as well, in a direct threat to eBays marketplace. The Chinese e-commerce company has also established its European headquarters in the UK and also plans to set up a joint venture in India for the management of its B2B business.
