Amazon accrues 53 percent from ecommerce growth in US in 2016

Amazon has accounted for 53% of ecommerce growth in the US in 2016, meaning that for every new dollar the US consumers spent online, Amazon took 53 cents of it.

According to market research firm Slice Intelligence, Amazon took 43% of all the revenue generated online in the US market in 2016.

In 2015, Macquarie estimated 51% of ecommerce sales growth came from Amazon, and in 2013, 2014 it accounted for 33% and 36% of the growth, respectively.
