Austrade, the Australian Government’s trade, investment and education promotion agency, advises Australian exporters not to be concerned about the Chinese government`s reform of taxation for online shopping.

From 8 April 2016, it is expected an 11.9% new tax across a broad range of product categories, including food and beverage (items accounted for 20% of purchases made through online marketplaces), abc.net.au reports.

The Chinese government is expected to replace a series of concessional import taxes, ranging between 10% and 15%, with the flat 11.9% tax.
