Australia: Online commerce revenue to hit USD 10 billion

The Australian e-commerce revenue is expected to reach USD 10 billion in the next five years.
 

According to IBIS World’s new survey, the Australian e-commerce is set to increase by 8.6 percent each year.The

US-based research company has also identified an increased demand for online goods. Still, the same survey mentions that the online industry continues to be hindered by the lack of infrastructure in this particular area.

In related news, Australia Post revealed that the e-tail boom is the main driver for its increase in annual profit and confirmed that its traditional mail volumes were in decline. Australia Post also predicts that online spending on its delivery services will double in the next five years, with revenue from its parcel business to reach USD2 billion by 2015.
