According to statistics released by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS), in 2009, e-commerce transactions are expected to grow 15 percent in value year-on-year, exceeding USD 430 million.

The number of Chilean internet users has now reached 8 million, accounting for almost half of the countrys population. As far as e-commerce related activities are concerned, one in three users claim they had made a purchase online within the past twelve months, according to the same source. There is also a significant percentage of small businesses which use the web channel for sales throughout the country via ChileCompra, the Chilean Procurement and Contracting System of goods and services for the public sector, a business marketplace that allows State buyers to contact private suppliers.
