Net income for the period amounted by 67.7 percent year-on-year to USD 9.9 million. Earnings per share were USD 0.22, as compared to USD 0.13 registered in the corresponding period of the previous year. Marketplace revenue climbed 16.9 percent to USD 37.1 million, from USD 31.7 million in Q3 2008. MercadoLibre has also witnessed an increase in payments revenue to USD 13.5 million, up 58.3 percent, as compared to USD 8.5 million in the prior year period. Gross profit rose by 25.2 percent to USD 40.2 million, from USD 32.1 million in the prior year quarter, with a gross profit margin of 79.5 percent.
