E-commerce in Mexico will jump by 30-35 percent in 2012, according to estimates made by Gaston Funes, commercial director for Latin America at BuscaPé, the Brazilian comparison shopping service.

This growth was driven by the creation of platforms to promote the incorporation of businesses in the online channel and mobile technologies. The Mexican Internet Association (AMIPCI) estimates that the e-commerce volume in Mexico in late 2011 has reached approximately USD 3.6 billion, representing up 28 percent as compared to 2010.

Furthermore, mobile devices will play a very significant role, as the number of users browsing on smartphones or tablets is now between 20 percent and 30n percent, according to Gaston Funes. Social networks will also boost the development of e-commerce in Mexico.
