Online shoppers in Thailand purchase more frequently – research

Thai online shoppers make purchases more frequently, an online shopping habits survey has revealed.

The increase in online shopping can be ascribed to such factors as convenient payment methods (88 percent), good exchange or return policy (87 percent), site offering secure payment facilities (86 percent) but also the low extra charges for usage of payments methods (83 percent).

The research carried out by MasterCard has shown that 77 percent of the interviewees use the internet on a daily basis. Respondents claimed that they use the internet for receiving/sending emails (94 percent), reading news online (87 percent), online shopping (63 percent), browsing materials for work or study (63 percent), browsing for leisure (61 percent), and online chat with friends (58 percent).

This is the second survey on online shopping habits conducted by MasterCard during in the fourth quarter of November 6-26, 2009. It covered 8,000 respondents across 14 markets: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, UAE and South Africa with Malaysia, New Zealand, Taiwan and the Philippines being new markets included in 2009.
