Online shopping in Poland is expected to see a significant increase in 2010, a recent study has shown.

According to the data provided by research firm Euromonitor International and cited by Warsaw Business Journal, the Polish e-commerce will register an 18 percent growth in earnings in 2010, with the sector expected to earn around USD 1.65 million. If online auctions are added, the expected amount is set to reach USD 4.94 million, the same source points out.

The number of Polish e-stores has seen a 28 percent growth in 2010 and the figure is expected to grow with the number of competitors approaching 10,000. However, in spite of the recent surge in online shopping, Poland’s online segment of the retail market currently accounts for around 2 percent of total retail sales, while in Germany, France and the UK the figure is 7 to 8 percent of the market.
