PapayaMobile, a mobile social networking and gaming company, has raised USD 4 million in Series A funding led by venture capital firm DCM.

The company plans to use the additional capital to increase its developer community, develop its social and gaming mobile applications and expand the management team. With over 3.5 million global users, PapayaMobile provides third party developers with an open-API, cross-platform mobile social networking service (SNS) focusing on social games and virtual goods.

PapayaMobile has recently released Papaya Social SDK which enables developers to cross promote their own applications among Papayas users, tapping on features such as news feed, invitation, notification, profiles, internal mails, chatrooms, IM support, leaderboards and a sophisticated avatar system.

The open mobile social network and gaming platform is available to users and mobile developers in the US, Europe and is expanding into China.
