During the X.commerce Innovate Developer Conference 2011, PayPal revealed the fact that the company expects to reach USD 4.7 billion in total payment volume (TPV) of digital goods in 2011

Thus, PayPal expects to register a significant increase in transactions for digital goods — up 28 percent from 2010, when digital goods accounted for a TPV of USD 3.4 billion.

PayPal has also decided to join forces with Microsoft to bring in-console payments to the Xbox 360 before the end of 2011. Users can already utilize their PayPal accounts on the Xbox Live website, but starting this holiday season, users can log in to their PayPal accounts on the Xbox 360 and pay for games and other digital content with PayPal.

In addition, PayPal has also rolled out a set of HTML5 API’s that will enable developers to integrate in-context, in-app payments in HTML5.

In recent news, PayPal has also launched PayPal Access, a commerce identity system which enables customers to make online purchases worldwide without using multiple passwords.
