At the same time, free shipping has risen 3% and goods purchased using a short-term promotion grew 29%.
Other key findings from DynamicAction’s Retail Index: Spring 2019, which analysed almost EUR 11 billion of online consumer transactions from the start of 2018 until 15 April:
consumers have intent of returning items;
there is a growing trend from consumers to buy multiple products online with the intent of returning some items;
online retailers are looking for incentives to attract customers and remain competitive;
major online retailers are slowly trying to undo free delivery;
online retailers in Europe saw their marketing costs increase by 74% compared to the same period of 2018;
new customer acquisition decreased by 10%.
