Romanian consumers are more willing to purchase tourism services online, a recent study has unveiled.

According to a survey released by South African payment gateway PayU, travel agencies have increased the number of online transactions by 30 percent in the first five months of 2012 as compared to the same period in 2011.

Results also point out that the average value of an online transaction involving tourism services has also jumped 18 percent y-o-y, reaching EUR 182. The same source indicates that on average, more than 50 percent online transactions regard accommodation services, followed by transportation services while the online acquisition of complete vacation packages comes last.

According to Cristi Herghelegiu, country manager PayU in Romania, the number of online transactions will remain on an upward trend and more travel agencies are expected to focus on selling online.
