Web hosting companies are undervalued by merchant acquirers, a recent study conducted by Aite Group reveals.

According to the Aite Group survey which reveals the extent to which merchants demand security, fraud prevention functionality and integrated payments services, merchant acquirers should enter partnerships with web hosting companies to increase cross-selling opportunities.
When asked to what extent they agree that their merchants would like to purchase both data security and fraud prevention services from the same vendor, 64 percent of the web hosting service providers have replied that their merchants agree to acquire the services from the same vendor, while 28 percent have stated that they are neutral.

Furthermore, when asked to what extent they agree that their merchants are agnostics to where they purchase data security and fraud prevention services, 49 percent of the web hosting companies have given a positive reply, while 28 percent of them have provided a negative answer. 17 percent of the web hosting companies have declared they are neutral when it comes to agreeing that their merchants doubt of the places where they purchase data security and fraud prevention services.

The study also indicates that 40 percent of the web hosting companies have agreed that their merchants would like to buy data security and fraud prevention services from their acquirer while 36 percent have stated that they are neutral.

The survey is based on Aite Group interviews with 53 vendors who provide web hosting services to merchants.
