Western Union debuts payment option for Amazon shoppers

Thursday 14 February 2019 14:54 CET | News

Western Union has unveiled a new payment option that allows Amazon customers in Peru to pay in local currency for their online purchases.

The service is available initially in ten countries – Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Peru, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.

Western Union’s platform is powering Amazon’s new cross-border payment option, called Amazon PayCode, by processing the foreign exchange, settlement and money movement requirements for international ecommerce transactions. After selecting PayCode on the Amazon checkout page, customers will be sent a code, along with instructions on how to pay in person at a participating Western Union agent location.

Earlier in 2019, Tesla has launched a new Amazon store to sell its merchandise, including a few new items, outside of its own website.
