Aconite launches mobile prepaid service

Wednesday 23 March 2011 11:48 CET | News

Aconite, a UK-based provider of software and consulting services for managing business applications on chips in smart cards, tokens or mobiles, launched a mobile prepaid service.

For the rollout, Aconite has teamed up with UK developer of mobile contactless payments and NFC technology Proxama and has integrated the latter’s NFC-based wallet application into its new service.

The new mobile service is expected to extend the capabilities of the offering Aconite and South African supplier of e-commerce transaction management services Traderoot have implemented for the South African Transit project in 2010. Thus, customers can use NFC-powered mobile phones to transact with contactless acceptance devices, such as those being deployed in South Africa’s public taxi-buses.

Aconite is expected to demonstrate its mobile prepaid service at the Cards Africa event held in South Africa and at the Cartes Asia event in Hong Kong.
