Amazon is reportedly testing a system which would allow application developers to accept payments via its online portal instead of going through Googles official channel on Android or through the App Store on the iPhone or iPad, media outlet businessweek.com has unveiled.

According to the source, the service will allow users to buy both subscriptions and individual items from within mobile applications. Amazon has revealed plans to charge a 30 percent commission to developers who use its in-app payment platform.

In-app purchases are an increasingly important part of the mobile marketplace. According to analyst group IHS, in-app purchases market will reach USD 5.6 billion by 2015. Most recently, Amazon has revealed plans to discontinue its 3-year PayPhrase e-commerce program, media outlet dailydealmedia.com has unveiled.
