American Express launches Use Points for Charges mobile app

Tuesday 19 November 2013 11:01 CET | News

American Express has launched a Use Points for Charges feature available in the American Express mobile app that enables eligible card members to redeem Membership Rewards points for practically any purchase, from gas and groceries to clothing and manicures, via their smartphones.

Card members are able to design their own rewards program and treat themselves by redeeming points for almost any purchase with an eligible American Express card.

To use the feature, customers have to download or upgrade the iOS or Android American Express mobile app, make an eligible purchase over USD 1.00 using their eligible card enrolled in the Membership Rewards program, open the mobile app and select Use Points for that particular charge once it hits their statement. Finally, a credit in the amount of the charge is applied to their account.

Card members can already check their account balance, make payments, browse rewards options and load special offers to their card from their phones.

In recent news, American Express has teamed up with postal service Canada Post to provide American Express card members with access to epost’s platform in Canada.
