Australia: Optus in direct carrier billing agreements with RIM, Boku

Australian telecommunications company Optus has closed partnership agreements with Canadian wireless device company Research in Motion (RIM) and US online mobile payments company Boku to allows customers to charge purchases carried out via their mobiles directly to their telephone bills, media outlet computerworld.com.au reports.

Under the terms of the direct carrier billing deals, Optus subscribers can charge Facebook credits purchases, BlackBerry App World apps and games as well as BlackBerry in-app purchases directly to their mobile accounts. For Facebook credits acquisitions, an SMS confirmation of the transaction must also take place, the same source indicates.
