AuthenTec acquires Proxure to enhance security services

Australia-based mobile and network security provider AuthenTec has acquired the assets of Proxure, a US provider of syncing and cloud-based storage services for PCs and mobile devices, to enhance security services for consumers and small businesses.

Under the agreement, all of Proxure’s assets including all software products and intellectual property as well as its KeepVault secure backup service and KeepSync software which synchronises a user’s identity across multiple devices are set to become part of AuthenTec’s Software and e-commerce portfolio. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Proxure was founded in 2005 by consumer software experts from Roxio, Sonic and VERITAS. Proxure creates software for devices ranging from personal computers to mobile phones.
