Australia-based mobile and network security provider AuthenTec has been selected by Japan-based multinational information technology equipment and services company Fujitsu to leverage its AES1750 smart fingerprint sensor on two waterproof NFC-powered mobile phones available from Japan-based mobile communications company NTT DOCOMO.

The two Fujitsu phones, respectively the DOCOMO STYLE series F-02D and F-04D, integrate a waterproof AES1750 smart sensor that utilizes AuthenTec’s TouchStone packaging for touch-powered features, which include fingerprint security, user personalization and NFC-based mobile wallet payments.

The AES1750 smart sensor allows users to lock and unlock the phone by swiping their finger and authenticate mobile wallet purchases.

NTT DOCOMO has more than 500,000 Osaifu-Keitai payment terminals in Japan which accept payment via NFC-enabled mobile phones.

AuthenTec’s AES1750 sensor is one-half millimetre thick, which enables its integration in mobile phones, tablets, remote controls or GPS navigation devices.
